“Robin's work consists of a table handmade from found hardwoods and laminate offcuts, forming a hinged concertina structure on wheels, with doubled-sided interchangeable Formica panels. This allows it to move, grow and shrink to fit its function. Robin describes the artwork as ‘living furniture’. The Collapsing Department exists in the balance of encouraging speculation and adaptation.

The concept behind this artwork is similar to a travelling circus, with the purpose of bringing people together, inspiring spontaneous activities and learning and expanding as needed to different environments.”
The work has been used in various spaces by various people. Initially in the Quaker hall in Croydon for a Theatrum Mundi workshop, a Performance by Ashleys Fitup in St Johns Waterloo and for all of the workshops during Lookout at Camberwell space. It currently resides in Camberwell with the view that other institutions and artists can borrow the table for use in their own workshops or activity facilitation
